AI Item Generation

AI Item generation refers to using artificial intelligence techniques to automatically create test items (questions, problems, tasks) that go into an Item Bank. In this, instead of human experts writing all the items, AI generates new items automatically or semi-automatically. We use natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and sometimes rule-based algorithms. Our AI models create items based on existing templates, defined skill models, curriculum standards, and examples of previously validated items. Our AI automatically generates answer choices (including correct answers and distractors), along with proper citations. It also adds tags based on the content, test plan topics, and program goals.

We use AI to automatically organize and label our content, making it easy and efficient for us to manage and deploy. Our system integrates seamlessly with eBook stores, helping us prevent copyright or intellectual property issues.
We speed up our authoring process with smart, AI-generated content suggestions that help us maintain flow and consistency across items. We can even convert spoken content into editable text within seconds—perfect for oral assessments, brainstorming sessions, or quick content capture.
Our approach allows us to incorporate a variety of item types, including sign-based items, visual content, and interactive tasks, ensuring that we design accessible and inclusive assessments for all learners. We also develop items that can be delivered through Virtual, Augmented, or Mixed Reality headsets, expanding how we engage with learners.
We identify and manage glossary terms across items to build consistency in terminology and support deeper student understanding. This structured process saves us time and resources while enabling the rapid creation of diverse, high-quality question banks.
Our AI empowers us to customize questions to individual learners, target specific skill gaps, and align with defined learning outcomes. By doing so, we ensure that our assessments are not only efficient and scalable but also personalized and impactful.

By leveraging AI, item banking becomes faster, smarter, and more personalized, transforming assessment development for the future.
